  2. Unlock the Secrets of Eclectic Interior Design with French Design Master Andrée Putman

Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? If you love the clean lines of modern design but also appreciate the colors of vintage style, or if you're practical but also like to collect pretty things, eclecticism is the answer.

Eclecticism is a design philosophy that rejects the idea of a single, definitive style. Instead, it draws inspiration from a variety of sources, combining elements from different eras, cultures, and styles. With careful planning and execution, eclecticism can create a unique and visually appealing space that reflects your taste.

Today, we will share the projects of French interior design master Andrée Putman as a case study to explore how to create an interior style that can blur the marks of time and be timeless.

    Andrée Putman

Andrée Putman, one of the most famous female interior designers and industrial designers in contemporary France, is known as the "Coco Chanel" of interior design. She is renowned for her bold and innovative design style that always exudes an elegant atmosphere. She is good at using eclecticism to harmoniously combine traditional and rebellious elements. Her works transcend trends and are considered to be timeless classics.

Now, I will share with you two cases of Eclectic Design from Andrée Putman. Learn to Mix and Match Styles Like a Pro with Andrée Putman, the Queen of Eclectic Design.

01 Paris Apartment on the Top Floor of Hotel d"Hallwyll

This is an apartment in Paris that was renovated and designed by Andrée Putman in the 1990s. When styles and elements can be recombined and fused, the leading tone of the interior can start with selecting a primary color.

In this case, the main colors are warm white, light wood, and a darker brown, creating an overall calm and peaceful atmosphere. Classical and modern styles are blended, combining materials that were popular in different periods, such as wood, stone, metal, glass, fur, and velvet. The different textures of the materials make the same color space show rich layers, achieving a wonderful balance and elegant and harmonious beauty.

The bedroom space is fused with Japanese and mid-century elements. The all-wood furniture and wood-framed cloth sliding doors create a quiet and soft bedroom atmosphere. Two green velvet steel tube chairs are paired to create a visual focus, adding a sense of heaviness in the mid-century style in the soft Japanese atmosphere. It is also a perfect embodiment of balanced eclecticism.

The bathroom and dining room are more fused with the characteristics of French modern and French country styles, which makes this apartment in Paris shrouded in a faint French romantic living atmosphere.

Each space in this apartment seems to have a mix of styles, but it is completely not broken under the unified overall color tone, and even gives people a sense of surprise everywhere. The space atmosphere characteristics are also closely linked to the space function, which is a stunning eclectic design work that combines practicality and beauty.

    02 Spanish Home Design

This is a home in Spain designed by Andrée Putman in collaboration with a couple of architects who are her fans. The space is designed to be practical, with a lot of straight lines to create a simple and tidy space. At the same time, large areas of black walnut finishes and occasional wicker elements are used to combine mid-century style with modern minimalist style, forming an eclectic design space.

The bathroom is also a fusion of French retro elements. The wooden floor of the living space is extended to the bathroom, and the retro small square bricks and shaped bathtub are matched to fuse the retro and modern elements, which is another creative fusion space.

When styles and elements are mixed, it is more important to pay attention to the linkage relationship between spaces, whether it is color, material, or a certain decorative element, or a style that they all contain... Find the common ground of things with different characteristics and make them coexist harmoniously. This is the essence of eclecticism that can achieve harmony and balance.

  3. 31 Design | Hotel Interiors that Feel Like Home, with Extraordinary Experiences

In the buzz of modern life, the design and experience of space are essential. This is not only a material existence, but also a pursuit of people's quality of life and a continuation of cultural values. The true meaning of luxury is not simply the complex of money and material, but the pursuit of details, the experience of texture, the love of life, and the expectation of the future. From design to materials, from indoor to outdoor, every detail reflects the love of life and the pursuit of beauty. This is either a design of space or an attitude and philosophy of life.

Wuhan boasts its magnificent Yangtze River and its thousand-year-old ancient legends, has given the city a broad and noble temperament, and also nurtured the city's heroes and outstanding talents. "Unique Wuhan, on the great Yangtze River, what kind of work should we present to the extraordinary people of this city?" This is the question that the design directors Huang Tao and Li Zhihong asked themselves and their team at the beginning of the project.

Design director Huang Tao believes: "We should take the Yangtze River as the background, based on the city's deep heritage, while pursuing eternity, injecting new moments, and integrating the extraordinary experience of hotel+home, to create the future." This case combines the respect, high-end atmosphere, sense of ritual, and social attributes of luxury hotels with home's comfort, tranquility, and privacy. At the same time, it pays tribute to eternity with a spacious, grand, comfortable, and quiet spatial atmosphere, creating a dream life like a movie. Hotel interior design that speaks to your soul, where you can feel at home and create unforgettable memories.

    01 Top-level Lifestyle

    The Feature of Luxury

Luxury is not just a style, but is closely linked to lifestyle attitudes and core values. The designers extended the design concepts of the world's top luxury hotels to the garage, lobby, clubhouse, and residences, to deliver a high-quality lifestyle that is on par with international hotels. This demonstrates our in-depth reflection on regional culture and future living models.

The first-floor lobby, with its extreme height and luxurious scale, outlines the extraordinary atmosphere of the space. The simple and grand, shocking and open space atmosphere echoes the character of Wuhan city, while also creating a sense of respect and ritual for returning home.

The sculpture artwork "The Han Horse by River" is inspired by Wuhan's horse racing culture. It links the local culture and emotions with art, and arouses resonance.

Sunlight falling on the banks of the Yangtze River is like a galaxy on Earth, shining brightly. The eternity of the moment is the source of inspiration for the design of the main space background, reflecting the unique culture of this city.

Large quantities of natural stone and exquisite wood grain are used to create a luxurious yet natural feeling. The warm-toned lighting and wood grain decorations add depth and comfort to the space. The spatial structure, with its interlacing blocks, uneven heights, and virtual and real changes, registers the designer's mastery of space and detail.

    02 Experience

    the Core of Interior Design

Design is not just about aesthetics or functionality; more importantly, it is about considering the feelings of the people who use the space. Good space design can evoke emotional responses from people.

Designers use sequences, circulation, and textures to stimulate viewers' emotions, shaping or influencing their psychological changes, making space a carrier of pleasant experiences.

The first-floor living room, designed as a lobby bar in a top-notch hotel, weaves a desirable daily life. The interior and exterior are harmonious, and the space is full of power and poetry.

    03 Don't Follow the Suite

    The Experience of Eternal Life

Do not deliberately create extreme design gimmicks, but build eternity with tranquility, comfort, richness, and privacy.

Build a high-end club in the way of a hotel "executive lounge", equipped with a cigar bar, bar, private banquet hall, fitness club, yoga room, tea room and other multi-functional, carrying rich life connotations.

With its unique aesthetic insights, the club's reception area integrates the "meaning of the East" and the "realm of the West, " bringing together tranquility, nobility, wabi-sabi, and a sense of luxury.

The sky bar and the riverside private banquet hall take the city's myriad landscapes as the background, making the Yangtze River's morning and evening scenery become a part of luxury, and creating an unrepeatable ultimate enjoyment.

Details define style. The designers carefully selected several classic materials, paying attention to the subtle nuances of color, texture, and texture, to create a rich and delicate experience.

The bamboo blinds in the tea room reduce direct sunlight and isolate noise, allowing people to focus their attention from the outside world to their inner selves. In the immersion of oriental aesthetics, the mind naturally becomes calm and at ease.

The private banquet hall, tea room, and cigar bar can be connected or partitioned by sliding doors, making the space free and dynamic.

The sculptural art staircase is made of over 10,000 ice-carved glass bricks, creating a cinematic scene.

04 Construction of Tranquility and Elegance

    Integration of Hotel and Home

The hotel concept is reflected in every detail. The bronze-colored pure aluminum cast entrance door creates a sense of nobility, like a mansion.

The arch becomes the focus, guiding the eye to the quiet rest area. The corridor extends to the secluded and quiet tea room, building the tranquility and elegance of life.

The function of the space should not be defined. The scene can be switched freely, as a tea room and a bedroom; different scenes and emotions outline the one-dimensional and multifaceted space.

  4. W Sydney: Where Modern Design Meets Luxury, in the Heart of Sydney

W Sydney is currently the largest of the over 60 W Hotels in the world. It not only inherits the W brand's signature quirky design elements, but also brings a new and luxurious experience to Sydney's visitors and residents.

    01 PROJECT OVERVIEW

The W Sydney is based in The Ribbon, Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia. It is adjacent to the Sydney CBD, International Convention Centre and Harbour Entertainment Precinct, and has become a landmark destination in Sydney. The hotel's architecture features a sloping shape and rounded curves, and its huge glass facade reflects the sky and cityscape. This unique architectural style is visually impressive.

    02 INTERIOR DESIGN

W Hotels are known for their distinctive design and playful luxury, and the W Sydney is no exception. From the honeycomb copper mirror wall in the lobby to the aquatic-themed mosaics in the pool, to the WET Deck on the 29th floor (W Hotels' signature party and pool area), every detail exudes a unique sense of luxury.

    Hotel Lobby

The lobby of the W Sydney is themed "Future Black". There is a blue circular sofa in the middle of the lobby, which becomes the focus when guests arrive. The design of this area is inspired by Sydney Harbour and the beach, using nautical white and navy blue tones to create a marine atmosphere for the lobby, while paying tribute to Australia's maritime tradition.

The lobby also has a unique honeycomb copper mirror wall, which creates a modern and luxurious atmosphere. In addition, the colors and patterns of the carpet on the ground echo the honeycomb copper mirror wall, making the entire lobby space appear unified and coordinated in design. The honeycomb copper mirror wall is used to divide the elevator and staircase.

    Hotel Dining

The W Hotel has several restaurants, including BTWN, Living Room, and 29/30. Each restaurant has a unique and creative design, offering a variety of dining experiences with distinct food and beverage options.

BTWN restaurant is designed to blend urban aesthetics with a night market atmosphere. Chef Chris Dodd, who has worked at Aria, The Blue Door, and Bistrot Plume, uses local ingredients and sustainable practices to create flavorful dishes from New South Wales. The decor and atmosphere transport guests to the heart of the city, making it a unique place in the W Sydney.

Living Room restaurant is located near the lobby and specializes in sake, shochu, and Asian cuisine. The bar offers stunning views of Darling Harbour, and at night, it transforms into a vibrant social space.

29/30 is a two-story bar with a superyacht-inspired décor, creating a modern and luxurious atmosphere. The bar serves retro champagne products, snacks, and appetizers from sunset onwards.

29/30 combines the blue elements of the ocean and sky with the red passion and vibrancy, presenting guests with a dining environment with a rich sense of layering and contrast.

Blue creates an immersive space, while red is used as a refined accent.

    Hotel Room

The hotel has 588 ocean-themed rooms, including 162 suites, each of which inherits the iconic style of the W brand.

Although the room design continues the same style and elements, no two rooms are the same. The overall design combines modern luxury and Australian indigenous cultural elements. Whether it is the color scheme, furniture, or decoration in the room, it fully reflects the unique charm of W Hotels. The interior design of the suite is inspired by Sydney's harbor location, with an ocean theme. This design concept takes guests into the marine world, sending a feeling of being on a seaside vacation.

    Hotel Facilities

W Hotels also has various facilities to ensure guests have a rich experience during their stay.

The WET Deck on the 29th floor of the W Hotel is a great place to relax. It has a 30-meter-long outdoor heated infinity pool, and WET Deck also offers healthy and fresh food, allowing guests to spend a perfect relaxing time by the pool.

The interior of the AWAY® Spa is warm and inviting, with soft lighting and comfortable furnishings, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The spa has multiple showers, saunas, steam rooms, five treatment rooms, a nail and foot spa, and a relaxation area and beauty bar.

Here, guests can enjoy a variety of treatments, relax and refresh themselves, and enjoy a comfortable time.

  5. 5 Ways to Add A Touch of Kelly Wearstler's Luxury to Your Home

Kelly Wearstler's luxurious interior style has captured the hearts of many. She has a keen eye for blending beautiful textures and colors, creating almost cinematic interiors. Her tones are inviting and comfortable, making you think of art rather than design.

As one of the leading figures in the industry, Kelly Wearstler's every project attracts attention from the interior design world. Whether it is a restaurant, hotel, or private residence, we are amazed by her artistic talent and creativity. Each space has its own story to tell.

From her recent projects, we have identified five emerging interior design trends. Her use of color, juxtaposition of materials, and selection of furniture and art can inspire us greatly.

01 Rich, Saturated Colors in Interiors

Kelly Wearstler is known for her use of color, with a very warm palette that includes deep shades of rust, green, terracotta pink, and a variety of jewel tones. Her colors are textured and rich. We see walls and furniture covered in these perfectly balanced shades, creating a feeling of elegance and calm. The rich materials she uses are also used to add color to the palette, such as warm wood tones or stone in different colors.

02 A Blend of Luxury Materials

Kelly Wearstler's unique juxtaposition of materials has created her own signature style. Her designs feature a combination of different material textures, creating interest and intrigue. The multi-layered depth of her designs draws our eyes to explore every surface of the room.

Wearstler's interiors are luxurious and comfortable, with a mix of marble, wood, leather, and textiles that create a sense of warmth and invitingness. Combining deep green and other rich natural tones with these rich textural elements makes the space look inviting and luxurious. Additionally, the atmosphere of each area reflects the client's affinity for art, texture, and color.

    03 Interesting End Table

The materials and shapes of coffee tables are also becoming more and more enjoyable. These unique and diverting coffee and tea tables have become an essential part of Kelly Wearstler's designs and are another way of presenting the combination of materials. Through careful selection and planning, irregular shapes and special materials are used to truly stand out in the living room.

    04 An Eclectic Pattern

Bold patterns are also a key element in Kelly Wearstler's interior design. Various art prints, floral, checkerboard, striped, and geometric abstract patterns are combined and mixed on materials such as wallpaper, tiles, sofas, carpets, and textiles. They are an indispensable part of her eclectic spaces, and also add depth, detail, and refined artistic flair to the space.

Hand-carved three-dimensional patterns attract the senses through touch and warm earth tones with natural elements such as wood and stone. Designers are becoming more creative and boldly use patterns, even using multiple patterns in the same space. This will also be one of the trends to lead the way.

    05 Artistic Sculptural Vase

Art is a must-have in any vibrant space, and it's an easy design element to bring home and implement. Kelly Wearstler knows how to choose vases that look like true works of art. A hand-carved vase becomes a thoughtfully crafted piece that further tells the story of the space it inhabits. It can be displayed as a standalone art piece or filled with flowers, branches, or leaves to create a relaxed and inviting look.

  6. 5 Interior Decor Tips with Amber Tone to Decorate Your Dream House

In 2024, the design world will see a surge in popularity of “gemstone amber” color. Its rich hues will add a touch of luxury to your interior design.

Colorful natural stone has always been an essential part of the home, especially for its inherent colors and patterns. Amber color is a tone derived from semi-transparent gemstones, just like jade green and cobalt blue, which are both natural gemstone colors.

Amber color is actually a range of colors, not a specific color. It is a type of orange, with the vitality of red and the happiness and optimism of yellow.

According to the NCS color code S 2060-Y30R, amber color is more inclined to yellow than red, and it also contains some black, so it has a low saturation and will not cause visual impact.

    S 2060-Y30R

In short, amber is a perfect soft tone, as warm as earth colors. It can bring a comfortable feeling of being embraced by the earth when used in the interior. In 2024, it will appear in various forms in the interior space, such as high-quality furniture designed in combination with semi-transparent materials such as glass and resin, as well as artworks, textiles, and wall paints.

NO.1 Amber Color in Home Decor

In the home space, the use of amber is not as bold as in architectural space. It often appears in the form of some home products, especially those with a glossy finish, such as glass and resin. They are like simulating the natural amber color, making people feel a refreshing atmosphere. Textiles, wall paints, and tiles also find a warm feeling in amber.

The colorful furniture brand Montana has also recently designed a series of trays in amber and other colors.

Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis is a genius at using color and light. In her home furnishing collection with IKEA, lighting, carpets, glassware, and candy boxes are decorated in warm amber colors, exploring the beauty of color and natural and artificial light.

    NO.2 Amber Color Interior Design

In addition to product design, amber is also popular in architectural space design. In this mountain villa in Canada, Jean Verville Studio fully utilized the effects of materials and optics to introduce the amber glow into the space. The unique curved shapes and dazzling amber colors are everywhere, and the textures, colors, and materials all reflect light, making it a kaleidoscope-like space.

Lamps, side tables, and utensils, the amber glow emitted by the amber color under the penetration of light is hidden in the space to form ripples like the waves of a lake, intertwining with light and shadow, which is one of the choices for adding a glossy feel to the space. They can be well matched with blue, green, and wood colors.

NO.3 Amber Color in Wall Paints

In Montana's product photos, we often see amber appearing on the walls and floors, paired with colorful furniture. This shows the versatility of amber. It is suitable for matching with light colors, such as yellow for a monochromatic look, or green for an analogous color scheme. Not to mention some neutral light tones. For a more daring look, try pairing amber with blue and adding some pink for a truly eye-catching effect.

    NO.4 Amber Color in Textiles

Sabine Marcelis' IKEA collection shows us the beauty of amber gradient carpets. Teklan, the color queen, always changes her bedroom bedding with the change of seasons. Recently, we saw her change to amber-like sheets, paired with soft pink tones. The combination of amber and textiles brings a warm feeling, which is very suitable for the upcoming autumn and winter seasons. We can change our sofas, pillows, bedding, and carpets to amber, which can hug you according to the season.

    NO.5 Amber Color in Artworks

Deep and shallow amber colors fall irregularly on different parts of this sculpture. The strong abdominal muscle shape looks incredibly strong. The seemingly natural colors form a kind of beauty of strength with both hardness and softness.

Roman portraits express their spiritual qualities mainly through the head, while Greeks express them through body postures and movements. Therefore, if a Roman statue is missing its head, the remaining parts have no meaning. On the other hand, the life of Greek statues is full of all parts of the body. Even if only the arms and torso are left, they can still give people a unique sense of vitality and beauty.

Sculpture Artwork "The Power of Counterpoint"

  7. Exploring the Charm of Contemporary Art: The Fusion of Relief Art and Interior Design

3D three-dimensional materials have a moment in interior design, becoming a way to add relief texture.

Designer Patricia Urquiola began experimenting with low-reliefs last year, and recently created Mater, a new brick for Mutina. Available in six different shades, the unique dark embossed surface makes a tactile effect that is both simple and visually striking.

In the project of interior design queen Kelly Wearstler, we can always see the form of relief, especially in the design of hotels. This form of expression can bring a more luxurious atmosphere, in her latest hotel project, she invited artists to use embosser bricks to design an artistic wall in the pool area.

This traditional form of expression from classical architecture, jumping out of plaster material, interpreting on various materials, and trying a variety of colors, it is not merely a synonym for gorgeous. Still, it can be added to any aesthetic, bringing many visual interests.

    01 Color Low-relief Tiles

The application of relief design in ceramic tiles is different from the pursuit of gorgeous effects in the past. It will be more toward a "low-key" low-relief, so that when it is used in the home space, it can achieve the purpose of simplicity and some design sense. Just like the above-mentioned Mutina design, the light change will bring different reflections to the relief surface. To create a little fun atmosphere.

Ceramic tile brand WOW Design recently launched a bas-relief brick, designed by Ricardo Bofill, inspired by Arabian Mediterranean architecture, the relief geometry of the cube lines is hidden, and the interpretation of a variety of colors such as terra cotta, deep sea blue, beige white, light blue, also brings more options.

    02 Low-relief Artwork

Relief artworks are a form of art that creates a three-dimensional effect by either protruding or recessing shapes on a flat surface; incorporating relief artworks can add a unique artistic atmosphere and a sense of depth to a room. Here are some suggestions.

    1. Wall decor: Install plaster or woodcarving relief artwork on the wall to break the flatness, add layers, and create eye-catching focal points.

    2. Furniture accessories: Choose porcelain or bronze relief artworks as decorative objects to enhance the artistic ambiance of the space and harmonize with the furniture, creating a cohesive overall effect.

    3. Lighting design: Select light fixtures with relief effects, such as lampshades or bases with carved patterns, to create intriguing shadow effects when illuminated, adding warmth and a touch of mystery to the room.

    4. Personal collections: If you have your own collection of favorite relief artworks, consider displaying them in suitable locations, such as on bookshelves, embedded in the wall, or showcased in display cabinets, showcasing your personal taste and artistic pursuits.

In summary, relief artworks can serve as focal points and unique decorations in a room. Choose pieces that complement the overall style, and consider the appropriate size and material based on the space size and function.

    03 Multi-material Relief Display

Relief design is no longer limited to the traditional gypsum, but emerging more material designs, so we see more possibilities in relief design in the home space. Here are some common types of relief artworks:

    1. Plaster relief: Relief artworks made of plaster, typically used for wall decorations or building facades.

    2. Woodcarving relief: Relief effects carved into wood, showcasing the texture and natural beauty of wood.

    3. Porcelain relief: Raised patterns or designs carved onto the surface of porcelain, creating delicate artistic effects.

    4. Bronze relief: Relief artworks made of bronze, exhibiting a metallic sheen and texture.

    5. Stone carving relief: Carved relief patterns on hard stone, commonly found in ancient architecture and sculptures.

For example, Moooi's color relief wall cloth makes the relief come to the textile field, and under the production of special processes, the three-dimensional pattern becomes the finishing touch, making the simple monochrome wall become richer.

Emerging Singaporean designer, Gabriel Tan's eco-friendly concept of a sound-absorbing wall made from wine cork waste, has been praised at Milan Design Week, with three-dimensional relief lines reminiscent of sand dunes in the desert. This new design lets us see the infinite possibility and charm of design.

Carved relief wood is also becoming a new trend, especially in some artistic side cabinet designs. Designers transformed into sculptors, with relief for this furniture into the uniqueness of art, free, unlimited creation.

Sculptural design is increasingly entering our space, which is closely related to the pursuit of art by contemporary young people, and these designs with sculpture and artistic genes will become an important trend in furniture design.

  8. 3 Dopamine Home Decor Ideas to Design Your Dream House

"Dopamine" is the trendiest term this year regarding color coordination. Dopamine refers to a style of combining highly saturated colors characterized by a lively, dynamic, and eye-catching aesthetic. Many people are familiar with the dopamine concept but find it challenging to apply it themselves. Today, let's explore how to decorate the dopamine style in your living space!

    Camille Walala

First, we would like to introduce an incredibly skilled designer in using colors. Even before the "dopamine" color coordination trend, she had always been known for her vibrant and colorful design style, making her a pioneer in this field.

This designer, Camille Walala, is a well-known figure in the design world, particularly when it comes to colors. She has garnered a reputation for her rich and diverse color combinations throughout her career. The space we are about to introduce is her very own studio, where she has taken the concept of vibrant colors to the extreme.

Located in Regent Studios near the Broadway Market in London, her studio features a blue floor, various geometric patterns, motif-combined cabinets, and a cartoonishly proportioned small kitchen. These elements combine to create a truly "dopamine" color-filled space.

When Camille Walala decided to start her studio's interior design, only some were initially receptive to her signature bold color palette, as they were concerned about potential clashes with future projects. However, in the end, everyone expressed a desire to draw inspiration from their own workspace and to "fully embrace the aesthetic," and this desire emerged victorious.

The studio is divided into two rooms, one for "clean" computer work and the other for "messy" activities such as painting and model-making. Walala and Jomaa created a 3D interior model in SketchUp and then brought in their favorite carpentry department – a studio specialized in designing and manufacturing for the creative industry.

This involved CNC cutting the shapes out of thin MDF (medium-density fiberboard), followed by spraying and precisely sticking them onto the doors to create a graphic pattern while avoiding the sometimes blurry lines that come with direct spraying onto surfaces. For the cabinets, they used doors made of MDF with melamine veneer and applied the decorative technique they had used in previous Walala projects, resulting in a colorful outcome.

Although Camille Walala has provided us with a studio case study, we can still draw plenty of experience from it. Here are a few key takeaways for color coordination:

    1. Environmental color design: A dopamine-style space doesn't necessarily mean having abundant colors on the walls and floors. Consider a thoughtful color selection that harmonizes with the overall aesthetic.

    2. Furniture color choice: In a dopamine-style space, opt for furniture that is colorful and blends harmoniously. Choose pieces that add pops of color to the room.

    3. Home decor coordination: An attractive dopamine-style space need colorful furniture accessories and artwork. Curate a collection of colorful home decor items and artwork to enhance the vibrant atmosphere.

    01 Dopamine Spatial Color

When creating a dopamine-inspired space, it is unnecessary to strive for excessive color coordination on the walls and floor. In fact, real dopamine space examples show that the walls can be chosen in versatile colors such as white, off-white, or wood tones, while the floor can be a simple wooden floor.

Dopamine-inspired spaces focus more on colorful coordination in soft furnishings than painting the entire room in vibrant colors. Too much saturation on the walls and floors can negatively impact the comfort of the living environment. Therefore, we can derive the following ideas for wall and floor color coordination from these examples.

    Wall Colors:
    - White: White walls are often the preferred choice for dopamine-inspired spaces as they contrast to other colors, making the entire room brighter and more open.
    - Off-white: Off-white can bring a soft and inviting atmosphere to the space and is a versatile color that pairs well with colorful furniture and decor.
    - Neutral Colors: Neutral colors like gray or beige are also common choices for dopamine spaces as they help balance the overall color scheme.

    Floor Colors:
    - Wood Tones: Traditional wooden floors are a common choice for dopamine-inspired spaces. They provide a natural and warm feeling and can be paired with various furniture and decor pieces.
    - Neutral Colors: Coordinating with the wall colors, neutral floor tones such as gray or light beige can create a clean and harmonious atmosphere.

In summary, the color scheme in dopamine-inspired spaces is primarily reflected in the coordination of soft furnishings and furniture, while walls and floors tend to favor versatile colors to maintain a balanced overall aesthetic.

    02 Dopamine Furniture Color

The highlight of dopamine collocation is coming, that is, you need to choose colorful furniture to meet the requirements of this style, so how do choose?

    【 Sofa】

In the dopamine space, the sofa must choose color, but these colors are not the highest saturation color; there are two tips:
    1. The color should be a little gray, although not as gray as the Morandi tone, it is a little gray than the color with high saturation;
    2. The color should be a little lighter, and the shade white should look softer and more flexible, which is more suitable for the dopamine space.

For example, we recommend a little gray ginger, mustard yellow, olive green, or high brightness cobalt blue, gray blue green, pink green, grass green, light pink and so on.

    【 Chair】

In the dopamine space, the chair color can be very bold. Not only can you choose a high saturation, but you also can choose several different colors of chairs. The main points are as follows:

    1. Chair bold color, high saturation;
    2. Shapes and colors can be inconsistent.

You can choose according to your favorite color, for example, if you like cool colors can choose emerald green and Klein blue chairs. If you like warm colors, choose lemon yellow, orange, and red chairs.

    【 Desk】

The dopamine space desk should also choose a little color, but the color is not suitable for too bright, because working here or consider the comfort of the eyes.

    【 Other Furniture 】

In addition, there are some small nooks, hanging poles, partition frames, etc., which can be selected with relatively high saturation, because they are relatively small, and there is no mistake when matching our white walls and wooden floors, but if you want to be more secure, it is also very good to choose according to the color of the sofa.

    03 Dopamine Home Accessories

Look at the following items sparingly, the critical points for the dopamine space, because you can constantly choose various colorful home accessories to match your home. As follows:

    1. You can choose a lot, but you can consider the unified depth or saturation in the color selection;
    2. You can also buy a complete set of the same series of different colors.
    3. You can choose diversified designs including ceramics, sculptures, wall decorations, and ornaments.

  9. How to Design a Minimalist Interior Space?

Schopenhauer once said: "Minimalism is a return to life, making us pursue simplicity, freedom and pure existence." The more complex modern life becomes, the more we yearn for simplicity and purity.

The "minimalist" style is precisely this resistance to excessive piling and complexity.

But "minimalism" does not mean pure white walls and drab Spaces, nor does it mean giving up all material comforts and desires. So what does "minimalism" really mean? How should it be designed and built?

In this post, we share all about the "minimalist" interior design style. Including its historical evolution, design principles, classic elements and different ways of integrating into the space, making "minimalism" truly become your lifestyle and elegant taste.

    What Is Minimalist Interior Design?

In the common impression, "minimalist" means absolute simplicity - clean lines, neutral colors, and restrained decoration. And with the "less is more", try to cut down the elements of life.

Although this does represent the outstanding characteristics of contemporary "minimalist style", the connotation does not necessarily end there. The concept of "minimalism" does not originate in the modern West but is rooted in different cultures and ethnicities with a long history.

Many nomadic communities, for example, have long followed a minimalist lifestyle out of necessity - every once in a while, they pack up all their clothes and move around.

So "minimalism" is, in essence, a simple and practical way of life - when you think about it, we can live in any space with very few necessities.

Some people just meet their needs and try to make things as simple as possible, which is also "minimalism". The key is to balance form and need, not style that looks good.

    History of Minimalist Interior Design

Minimalist design comes from art, and this concept of "removing the superfluous and showing the essence" can even be traced back to Michelangelo's famous saying: "Cut away the superfluous stone. It is the perfect sculpture."

In the mid-20th century, with the architect Mies van der Rohe's concept of "less is more" and the hit "modern design movement" after World War II, "minimalism" began to really take hold.

Russian artist Malevich stressed: "pull away from all emotions, purely emphasize the shape and texture, reflect the minimalist spirit in the abstract", showing a return to the minimum essence and poetry.

Since then, this core principle of visual art has gradually been incorporated into the design of Spaces as a harsh response to the increasing complexity and chaos of urban life.

Today "minimalism" has been applied to all types of design: the spatial structure is simplified to only the necessary elements - eliminating unnecessary complexity and stacking, presenting pure beauty and power.

    Benefits of a Minimalist Space

Despite its decades-long roots, minimalist design never goes out of style and is still alive and well today.

First, minimalist design condenses function and utility into as few and precise elements as possible, thereby freeing up as much space as possible.

Especially for families with limited space, minimalist design can make the space spacious and bright.

Second, it directs us, visually and spiritually, to focus on what really matters. The minimalist space is pure and quiet, which can imperceptibly allow us to return to the inner order.

Third, as resistance to excessive consumption. Minimalism minimizes the impact of design, thereby revealing the true nature of space - the natural beauty of those stripped of decoration.

In addition, sustainability has also become a principal element in the lasting appeal of "minimalist style".

With the scarcity of resources and the climate crisis, more and more people are returning to the essence and reducing their material desires. So in addition to the practical need to economize, this style also involves an innate sense of responsibility.

In short, minimalist design turns complex into simple, condensing complex functional requirements into pure design language, so as to achieve a more ideal state of life.

    Defining Elements of Minimalist Design

When you walk into the minimalist space, you will notice that there are no bells and whistles in the room, everything is carefully designed and planned - a handful of items, but cover the needs of life.

This may be the ultimate principle of minimalist design: emphasize what is really needed and important, and add almost no unnecessary embellishments.

The purpose of a minimalist space is not to show off: how much can I have? It's: How many things can I get rid of that I don't need?

You can think of minimalism as a desire to pursue the ultimate while following your heart. You need to find what inspires you, what really moves you, and then cut out the non-essential.

When designing a space with such an attitude, there is no need to stick to any particular expression. You can still retain your own unique personality in the simplest area.

    How to Create Minimalist Style?

For minimalist design, the vision should not be particularly attracted to anything in the space, but fully perceive the overall atmosphere of the space.

Choose simple, sophisticated furniture, clean, elegant lines, and keep decor to a minimum. This does not mean ruthlessly excluding anything non-functional, but rather avoiding causing confusion.

    01 Minimalist Order

Everything has a limit, or things will be vexed. Minimalism is not only a design style, but also a way of life. So the way to achieve a minimalist space is to first have fewer things - focus on keeping the things that are most important to you.

Keep the habit of storing and organizing regularly. Remove non-essential items immediately, keep the space clean and tidy as a whole, and ensure that each item can balance practical value and sensory pleasure.

In addition, choose carefully and buy wisely. When adding new items, focus on timeless, classic shapes and functions, and avoid buying trendy items.

Zhou Guoping once said, "The less you have, the freer you are." As long as we choose wisely and carefully, we can always have fewer but more refined things.

    02 Minimalist Colors

Too bright colors may compete for visual focus, so for minimalist Spaces, it is best to choose simple and pure colors.

Combining two or three subtly varying neutrals is the safest minimalist color scheme. Not only are the colors easy to coordinate with each other, but it is also easier to create an overall clean atmosphere of the space.

In addition to the classic black, white and grey, cream, linen and earth colors are very popular. On this basis, matching natural or complementary colors can break the dull and add visual interest to the area.

Minimalist design has plenty of room to experiment with different color options - as long as everything is restrained and simple, it can add character and charm to the space through the combination of materials and textures.

    03 Minimalist Style Furniture

The challenge of minimalist space design is that you have a minimal number of objects, and the quality is far greater than the quantity. Therefore, the choice and judgment of each item need to be considered.

You need to reflect on the necessities and priorities of your life, so that every object has a place, simple and practical, and can add value to the space.

Try to choose those that have stood the test of time, efficient use, simple shape, excellent texture of classic home deco. Blend function with beauty, avoiding elaborate details and fancy shapes.

All the objects in it are able to respond to each other. On the basis of fully meeting the needs of use, it has simple and permanent functional and aesthetic value.

    04 Minimalist Style Textiles

How can you decorate a cool and fathomlessly minimalist space with a warm, cozy, charming feeling, simple but not monotonous? The answer: rich textile and texture.

Based on maintaining adjacent colors throughout the space, the introduction of different textiles can make the room present "diversity in unity", both in harmony with each other and in contrast to each other.

For example, the use of tulle curtains and linen carpets in the living room can add a sense of lightness. Soft fabrics and throw pillows can create a comfortable feeling of warmth, while curved home can soften the lines and shapes of the space.

Minimalism is about quality, not quantity; The more limited the object, the more important is the contrast and echo of texture. It will even directly determine whether the space is monotonous or rich, whether it is plain or elegant.

When all elements in the space: form, line, color, texture, etc., echo and relate to each other, they can work together in a harmonious form to create a comfortable and harmonious sensory experience.

    05 Minimalist Style Accessories

The core of minimalist design is to eliminate anything that distracts and affects mental attention. Therefore, try to avoid complex decorations that may damage the internal beauty of things, and try to leave the space white.

You can choose the decoration of pure color and simple shape. The purpose is to enhance the space atmosphere and artistic atmosphere without affecting the visual experience.

But even simplification to the extreme doesn't mean cookie-cutter. Minimalism can be decorative, but be restrained and try to keep things that show personality and can really touch and inspire you.

For example, a black and white touching photograph may be more valuable than an expensive famous painting.

These exquisite decorations full of emotional value can make space more charming and reveal your aesthetic taste and lifestyle, which send minimalist room the feeling of "home".
